Major wire short, please help!
I went to start my car this morning and got a nasty whiff of burning plastic and smoke coming out of my center console. I immediately disconnected the battery and noticed the wires to the switch for my sub amp were completely melted all the way back to the trunk.
I have used this switch to turn my amp on and off with no problems the past five months. I should have used an inline fuse...too late now. Does the Shaker 500 have a way to power the rear amp? If so, is there a connection diagram that will show me where to terminate this connection to avoid this issue in the future? Any advice will help.
Thank is advance

did you ask this a couple of weeks ago or was that someone else that had the same problem?
You will now need to run a new wire. You should not need a switch but either way you ALWAYS need to fuse a wire that you are running that will carry current. for a remote turn on it doesn't need to be more then 5-10 amps..........

This is a new problem with me.
How do I turn the amp on and off without a switch? Where so I get the 5-10 amps from? I wired my switch to the same ground and power terminal on the amp, and then connected the remote wire to the switch and amp. Is there a better way to wire this?
Thanks

I assume that you are using the factory radio? By wiring it to a circuit that comes on and off with the key the amp will turn off with the key. There are spots in the fuse box that can do this as well as the switched wire behind the radio.
Any chance of getting a wiring diagram for the correct wire to use a tee tap to accomplish this? This time I will be sure to use an inline fuse to avoid potentially setting my Stang on fire again.
Thanks Again
Thanks Again
