I'm having a custom made fiberglass box that will fit two 12" subs in the back corners of the trunk in my 06 GT. Should have some pictures by next week some time, also made some custom door pod speakers to go where the 8" sub would go if i had the shaker 500 package.

If you get a 12" sub and use a sealed box they usually only need around 1 cubic foot of airs space, if you use a ported box it will need around 1.7 cubic feet. With a ported box you will get more decibals and with a sealed box you get more sound quality. Crutchfield hase a mtx 10" woofer with an enclosure designed for the 04 mustang, but they are not all that hard to build and any audio shop should be able to build you one for around $70 or so. Alot of those cheap speakers that are rated at like 1800w are full of crap. I wouldn't trust them. I have an Infinity Kappa Perfect sub, purchased for around $250. It is rated at 350w rms and 1400w peak, you have to check your amp also because the 1600w may be overated or just the peak output, what you are looking for is the rms output with a low distortion. If you put too much power to your speakers with distortion, the voice coil will overheat and blow your speaker.

ok. my amp actually blew today (it's a sign. i NEED a new sub now). i'm gonna use that 1600watt amp i have and was think either this one:

https://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/3108

or this one

https://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/3502

i was gonna get 2 800watt peak pioneers for $50/ea and get a new box, but then i saw the alpine. THEN i saw the pioneer. you guys think i should get that pioneer or alpine?

also, you think those things will put a lot of strain on my battery and/or alternator?

What amp do you have?

Personally, I would recommend nothing less than Kicker or JL Audio! If you have the power, you will be COMPLETELY satisfied! Dont waste your money on cheap subs, NEVER EVER!!!!
