Relocating rear speakers?
I currently have a 12" Infinity sub in the trunk but the sound doesn't travel into the cabin as well as I would like. If I lay down the rear seats it sound awesome, but when I put them up it doesn't sound much better than with the stock shaker 500, just a little more thump. I was thinking that when I get my side window louvers that I could remove the speakers from the back window and make a cover for the side windows to relocate the speaker. Then I could build a box in my trunk to port the base through the factory rear speaker grilles.
I figure I could take some plywood and cut them out to the shape of the rear side windows, cut out the holes for the speakers and cover them in greay carpet to match the interior. I would then remove the interior molding and make some mounts for the plywood, that would atach to the metal pillars and come around the plastic molding and secure the plywood. Reatach the moulding, secure the plywood and mount the speaker. And of course I would run the wires behind the molding while I had it removed.
Does anyone think this would be a good setup or too much effort?
