Default Help with RCA adapter

I have the Shaker 500 in my '06 and I recently attempted to install this PIE adapter: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrd04aux.html

It's supposed to add external RCA connections (for an iPod or whatnot)

Has anyone else done this succesfully? I followed the instructions to the T and checked 2 seperate wiring diagrams to make sure I was tapping off of the constant 12v and the ground.

I put it all back together this morning and yet when I press the "aux" button on my setero iot still says "no aux audio". So I have no idea what went wrong! I know all the connections are done the way the intructions say, and all of the normal stereo function still work.

Any ideas??? Thanks!

did you happen to use a multi-meter to verify your 12v and ground?

I did not. This is the wiring diagram I used (page 3) http://www.discountcarstereo.com/pdf/frd04-aux.pdf

I used a seperate diragram which I can't find now, that also showed those 2 pins as the ones I wanted.

I never even bother with wiring diagrams. always check your wires with a meter or test light even if you know the colors.....

Without the diagram how would you know which of the many wires you are supposed to tap into? Plus the battery was disconnected, so even if I had a meter, I guess I'd have to hook that back up then test it. But again, how would I know what to look for? Maybe that will help me determine if I have the correct wires or not.

Hook up the battery and test for 12voltz DC on the wireing harness that goes to teh radio. Make sure that the key is off unless you wwant to take te chance of it being wired to your ignition wire. Which could be a good thing incase it ever shorts out and kills your battery unless of course it is made that way so you can charge your iPod with the car off or something.

Center of the cig lighter is a constant(usually), and there are only so many wires on the back of the radio. With a test light it only takes a few minutes to find and then you are certain to have the right wire.
