Default MACH 460 > New Head Unit

I assume this has been asked many times but here is my story...

I went to Tweeter and Best Buy and both places said it would take them 5 hours and $200 just to install a new head unit on my MACH 460 system. I see Crutchfield has the Ford 98+ wiring harness for 12 bucks but I heard doing that works except for you do not have any bass in the system. The guy at Best Buy explained that I would have to basically re-wire the entire system. Any help? Are there any adapters that I could just plug in and go? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!

i had the same problem. i found a place to do it for 100. then half a year later my hu started bein gay and by that time i knew more about my car so i took it out. i found out all they do is run speaker wires from the hu to each of the speakers and bridge wires off of the main wires to the tweeters and they put bass blockers on those. i rewired the whole damn thing and put the mach back in. its still in now and im still happy.

it is not that hard, I have an easy bypass that should work for your car that you can do. I gotta run to a meeting, hang tight and I will post a link.

I just bought a amp bypass for the MACH 460 from layfette radios. I talked to their tech... they are aware of the bypass and this harness works for it. Cost me 25 shipped.

it will work but it may also have some compatability issues that will lead to poor sound. If you are not happy with it then try page 2 of my cardomain.com site. It walks you through integrating into it step by step and sounds great....

If you use the subwoofer outputs do you still need the line driver?

Thanks.

They are available at any auto parts store or car audio store.

The line driver is specifically for if you use the rca sub output of the deck. The factory amps are used to getting a little higher power signal then RCA. With out the line driver the bass distorts and sounds really bad when the rest of the speakers are just starting to sound good...
