6 disc in dash radio problems
Just signed up on the forums so I could get some help from y'all. I've been helping my buddy out with his mustang and we keep having problems with the factory 6 disc in dash cd changer. It is a 03 Mach, which from what I've been told by Best Buy and Circuit City has a relatively odd sound sound system.
This is the second factory radio in the car (the first one messed up the same) and it keeps eating the cd's and won't return them. He had it back to the dealer 3 times under warranty and they said that there was nothing wrong with it, that the problem was he was using cdr's. Well now it has all originals in it and refuses to return any of them. It did this a while ago and he was able to take a pair of tweezers and pull one of the cd's out and it worked fine for a few months then it happened again. Any ideas as to what causes it and any solutions?
Best buy has told us that in order to put a different head unit it the vehicle we would need to replace all the speakers in the car as well. They said that the factory radio and speakers require a different ohm's than that of a typical off the shelf headunit. Any truth to this?
If we can fix the factory radio that would be fine, but he is also prepared to replace it if necesary, but is not looking forward to the costs.
Thanks for any all help.
I'm sure I'll be around more that I have run across this awesome mustang forum

first off, STOP SHOPPIN FOR AUDIO OR AUDIO ADVISE AT BEST BUY!!!!! If you have not noticed there are not normally alot of people werking there that give good advise....
The factory 6 disks are notorious for locking up with burned cd's with labels on them. Don't use them. If your deck is still having difficulties I would recommend disconnecting power to it by pulling the radio and disconnecting the hrns or by simply disconnecting the fuse. By doing this when you power it up it should re-initialize and could fix your problem.
You do not need to replace every speaker in your car. I have not had experience with that year but in years before that you could replace the deck with no problems and descent sounding results. there are a few ways to do it and after doing more then a few systems the way that I have had best results with is on page 2 of my cardomain page below......... Take a look and let me know how I can help, you will get my bill in the mail later.....
