engine noise

Default engine noise

i recently installed a new amp kit in my 86 GT and there is engine noise comming form the speakers. i have the power and RCA cables on opposite sides.. any suggestions on how to get rid of the noise?

Where did you groung the amp? Plus make sure it is minimal distance betrween the amp and ground.

i grounded it to a bracket in my back seat... it seemed pretty good for a ground and its only a few inches from the actual amp, about a foot of cable though... should i move the ground?

Just make sure you have scraped the paint from the metal your connecting it to. I've also heard that capacitors are good ground loop isolators (reducing engine noise)
