Hi folks, wondering what you all think is the best priced and most feature packed security system/remote start combo for our mustangs? I have an '05 convertable.

 

Check out COMPUSTAR they even make Remote starts that will work on Manual trans. cars

 

I have an 04 mustang coupe and i just got the Directed VIPER 5000 alarm with the lcd remote. my wife has an 02 mustang vert and is getting the same alarm but with the remote start and additional option that allows her car to have the top down and still be fully effective. here is a link to what i have and what she is getting. http://directed.com/security/viper/viper_responder.asp

 

Yeah, I have seen the viper. It looks pretty good. I have a convertable also so it would need to function with the top down. May I ask where your having it installed? I know bestbuy carries viper but they are hit or miss as far as installation expertise.

I'm near Plainfield, thats not too far. I would like to find someone dependable.....for future projects. I have heard that the compustar is the highest reccomended system. I have heard a lot of range complaints on the Viper systems so I think that one is out.

 

those complaints must have come from people that had sh**y installers. My guy is one the best installers in Kankakee County. I am one of many that have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars in his shop.

 

Well the complaints that I have read about have to do with walls/concrete/steel buildings, not direct line of sight. That probably shouldn't have anything to do with install unless the antenna isn't mounted properly. I'm not saying your guy isn't great though. I have just read multiple threads that say they wish they had bought the compustar systems. I havn't read anything good/bad about the compustar system however. I'm just trying to make sure I get the right system. I'm seeing good prices on the viper systems on ebay.......around $200. I wanted to buy it now and then save up for the install since I can't do both immediatly.

 

my guy did my wifes car for 200.00 installed but i can ask what it would be for other people. i mean not with my discount that i get from him.
