has anyone done a stock replacement? We upgraded over labor day, color wife wanted did not have premium sound. We had the shaker 500 in the v6 we traded and it sounded ok. We want an ipod hookup, but hope to get some ideas for speaker setups like the shaker. the low subs seemed to help keep the sound levels good when the top was down.

any help will be appreciated.

Katfish, how was your replacement? If you know, was the replacement radio you used from a coupe or from a convertible?

I ask because the Shaker 500 head units for the two body types have different part numbers. I have heard the sound output/eq/tone for a coupe is slightly different from that of a convertible, hence the different part numbers.

I have a convertible and want to replace the head unit and there are more head units from coupes than from convertibles. I want to know if there is any significant downside from putting a coupe head unit into a convertible.

 

Why not just get an aftermarket? It would be a 100X better. Then you don't have to mess with any of the stock wiring and it will sound a lot better.

 

now that we have that sorted out what is the question? Your wife wants she can't have(whodathunk?) and your to blame?! Are you wanting to keep the factory equipment or wanting to ditch it?
