Aftermarket speakers with bass
I have a 98 mustang convertible. What kind of aftermarket speakers would have bass like or better than the mach 460 speakers. I've installed some aftermarket kicker 5x7's in the front and rear and the front have decent bass but the rear have no distinct bass at all. I have all 4 hooked to a 4 channel amp and I've switched all the speakers around and they sound the same so nothing is wrong with the amp. I am not happy with the rear sound so what speakers or set ups do you suggest ?
The Kicker 5x7's don't help much at all...I would suggest Kenwood or Infinity speakers in the future, they are true 6x8 (woofer dimensions). If your lookin for bass, your only alternative is a subwoofer especially in a convertible. I use a 12" single box sub with 300 watts. It is very easy to install an amp in your trunk and you'll be amazed at how much bass you have with the top down.
6X8's speakers do not produce decent bass naturally.

Yes I used to have 2 12's in the trunk but now I have a baby and I need the room for the stroller and other items so I was trying to get a nice clean sound out of just the interior speakers. I know I wont get deep thump but I just wanted to hear some good bass tones.
What is it about the factory mach460 systems that produce bass through the 6x8's?

Gotcha...been there before. Have you tried puttin the factory speakers in the rear? I know when I had the Kickers KS68's they lacked bass in the rear deck of my coupe. I hate to focus on the Kickers but I realized I wasted my money when I replaced them with Kenwoods...
Good luck.
Good luck.
