Unfortunately, I think we need some more info before anyone can answer your question, and even then, you are going to run into more opinions than fact. With that said, maybe this will help. If you are just running a head unit, you do not need to upgrade the battery. If you are going to run a big amp, even then you do not need to add another battery. Most cars charging systems are able to handle the stereos of today. For example, in my '01 v6 mustang, I am running a 60x4 head unit and 425x1 amp and have no issues whatsoever. For a fox body mustang, most people agree that upgrading the alternator to a alternator found in later mustangs (3G) is advisable.

You will also find individuals recommending that you purchase and install a capacitor. I find them to be a waste of money and here is a very very detailed article explaining why, http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176417

I hope that helps you out some.

i was looking at running a 1600 watt amp in my camaro and was wondering if i needed another battery?

also while im at it, my buddy has a prelude, his stereo is in tune with the engine (a loud wineing sound?) that plays through the speakers anyone know what this is? also he has a 1600 watt amp and a 1000 watt amp with an extra battery but we dont know how to hook up the extra battery to keep it charged or is it not needed?

What your friend is hearing is noise coming from the motor.

Generally speaking, that is from bad grounding. If you have checked all the grounds and they are good then you could try a noise filter.

Don't know about the battery. It depends on how much power the amp needs versus what the cars electrical system can deliver. There is not always a direct relationship between the electrical draw of an amp and it's claimed wattage output either. I agree with Hawk, caps aren't the answer. I would imagine a newer alternator would do the trick. The engine certainly has the generation power, even in a Honda.
