JVC Headunit in 2000 v6 coupe
I just took a JVC KD-SX9350 head unit out of my sister's old Lebaron. I just unplugged everything from the back and now its sitting on my floor. I was wondering what will be involved in putting it into my 2000 Mustang V6 coupe. I researched and found some information but didnt really know what to make of it. I know I need the special tools to remove the stock deck, then I need some way to connect the square plug into the back of the head unit. I dont really know what i'm doing so some help would be appreciated.
Special tools? As in a socket set? You should be able to go buy a wiring harness from somewhere like bestbuy. If your 'stang has the regular tape deck, and then an added CD slave unit (a little CD player in a slot below the stereo), you'll prolly want to buy a little dash kit as well (allows you to replace the cd player part of the stock system with like a little console that'll hold CDs and stuff.) Just go to best buy and tell them you want the wiring harness for a 2000 Mustang V6. As long as you don't have a Mach 460 or 1000 audio system, you'll be okay. I think the harness itself is lke $18, then you can buy a dash insert for the CD for like $5-$10. Good luck!
even if he has the mach just make sure you tell them that, and the special tool he's talking about is like 2 little prongs on each side of the radio just get and old wire hanger and cut it and bend it in a U shape and grind the edges down a little so they fit in the holes
thanks for your responses, I'll prolly go over to best buy or sound waves (local place) and see if they can help me out. I do believe i have the mach 460 but I dont know how to tell for sure. I do have the stock radio/cassette player with the little cd player in a seperate unit. Just wondering one thing, the headunit doesnt have a wiring harness attached, so am i still just gonna need the 2000 v6 harness that Xeremeh was talking about? And should I have any problem as this is a 4x50 channel HU and i hear that's too much power for the speakers due to an amp? Sorry for the newb questions... I'm stupid I guess.
