Amp Pop After New Stereo Install
I searched around a little bit but couldn't find anything. Hope fully someone who has insatlled and aftermarket stereo to replace the Skipper can help me out.
Anyway, I installed a new Pioneer DEH-P6800MP this weekend. I also installed the ipod adapter and the Sirius tuner is next.
Everything works fine except that when I turn on the stereo/car I get a poping sound coming through the amps. It happens every time.
Any body got any ideas?
Btw, if your looking to upgrade your stereo this pioneer unit is very nice! There were some things I had to figure out to get the bass and subwoofers to work correctly but I got through it. It is ipod and satelite ready and the ipod interface is great! I dont even need a cd player anymore. I'm looking forward to getting sirius in this car but both best but and circuit city were out of the tuner that goes with this unit.
Thanks

By chance do you have the amp's remote wire hooked directly to the battery instead of thru the wire that is on your head unit that may be labled remote turn on or automatic antenna?
If so then you need to unhook it from the battery and wire it to the lead on the unit that way it turns on and off with the head unit.
Most of the time when I hear someone is complaining about a pop when they turn the amp on they have wired the remote lead directly to the battery and that makes the amp on continously and that will cause that problem.

Also I would double check all your ground connections throughout the system.
