Default Removing neons from an '03 GT

Well I found out that the douche who owned the car before me put GREEN NEONS on MY mustang. WHYYY its not a ricer by any means? Ok had to get that out, sorry. Anyway I need to take the damn things off and do a little exchange with my friend who has a '95 civic hatch... my neons for work at his dad's body shop. His dad is gonna remove my spoiler and do whatever's necessary for making it look stock. So what I'm asking for is... is there anything I should look out for/be carefull of when taking them off? Anything I should do in preperation? Im not all that experienced with electronics so I'm kind of closing my eyes and pointing on this... ANY instructions/tips/recomendations would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PS: I can send pics of the setup if needed... just let me know what you need.

Disconnecting the battery probably isn't a bad idea as a safety precaution. I think you'd be fine though as long as they're off and so is the car.
