well guys i got a 2000 gt and it has that stupid 2 seperate dins and my friend just gave me a 6.5in screen . and i was like oh ok simple just get an 01 up trim and install that into this well i just got back from car toys and he said that everything is going to be different. like there are 3 different buttons on the 01's up and i would either have to fiber glass it in or have him do it for 800 and tahts just rediculous. so i was wandering has anyone ever installed a double din into our cars. and if so how did you do it. because i really wanna get it done with. because right now my trim peace has 2 broken a/c vents and a hanging tape player face palte just from trying to take them out. any help would be much MUCH appreciated

 

theres no reason why it wouldnt fit right on there. Just go to a junkyard and pirate all the parts from an 01-up car. The only difference should be the foglight, t/c, and defroster buttons at the very bottom.

 

Same question as the poster. sucks for us 2000 owners.. I considered just putting a spacer, like somethign to fill the gap, on the top one, and installing a flipout screen on the bottom bay ao with it flips up it covers the "spacer" but im not too good with interior mods.

 

yea i hate the flip outs and i got a free screen for a double din.... sooo why spend money when i got something for free. soo frostbittin all i gotta do is grab all the equipment from the 01 up models and throw it in mine maybe ill just leave the buttons in for now until i find a use for em later on in life like NOS

 

well ive called 7 salvage places and 7 of the 8 have hung up on me do anyof yall have this problem.. with yalls local salvage yrds. does anyone have a double din trim peaces for sale id be happy to buy it off ya.

Im doing the same swap in my 97 gt. Your going to have problems with two clips at the bottom of the bezel and with the switches (i have a console from the 01+ too so im moving my switches around) just shave off the clips and cut a peice out of the bottom of the dash part. I havent done the dash peice yet but i will tomorrow. When i get my new hood im going to get my car painted and the bezel and console painted to match the black interior. I also have the 6.5" screen. Youre going to have some trouble fitting a face plate on it. but no worries. Ill post pictures after i get it installed

 

i went out and cut my dash up this morning and got my bezel in. fits good... GREAT... but braketing in the screen is my problem. I have it pushed in without the cage on at the moment but it shouldnt budge until i get my bracketing. The problem is that now my electrical is acting up. The battery keeps loosing voltage and then powering up again and with it all my lights dim. my pedals surge until they turn off and keep trying to pull power every now and then. I trip. checked my wiring and its all good. I think im due for a new battery anyway (if its not the problem then idk, doubt it is tho)... only after my intake and if its still acting up will i buy the bat. tho
