Default 98 gt with mach 460 issues

I have a 98 gt. The battery would be dead if I do not drive the car everyday. I went through the fuses troubleshooting what may be putting a drain on the system. I found the problem to be the amp or amps on the mach 460. Once I took the fuse out for the amps the problem was solved.

Now, Has anyone else had symilar issues? I would hate to have to yank the whole system apart since I do not have another stereo system to replace it with.

Sounds like the relay in the amp may be staying in the "on" position. Do you have an aftermarket stereo? If so, you may have the trigger wire with full time power to relay in amp. If not, you will need to check the trigger wire out of cd player, and see if it loses power when the key is off. If it does lose power, but your amp stays on, you have a problem with amp, and will need to repair it.

try hooking up an amp meter to the battery, and then pull one fuse at a time to confirm the current drop on the meter. Idunno what to tell you if the amp is staying on, you can get it repaired but fixing factory audio equipment is normally just not worth it.
