Confused With Amp...
Ok, Help me with this. This is my amp...
Model: TS1440-2
2 Ch
300x2 4ohm RMS
360x2 2ohm RMS
720 Mono RMS
1440 Max
So...4 ohm and 2 ohm? Whats that? Mono means that I connect the + of one channel and the - of another? Is the Max for the Mono output?
I had a kicker comp 12 hooked up to it and I think it blew the sub. But I think I had it hooked up Mono and that sub is only rated at 300/150.
Suggest a good sub for the amp? (I have a 12' ported box)

Mono is a single channel. This is almost 100% of the time for subs. I had a dual mono amp set-up in my '85 for front mids and tweets (one was driving left channel and one right, hence stereo in the front
As far as being able to use the amp for mono or bridged, you will have to read the instructions. Usually, an amp that is capable of bridging (using the 100% power of the amp to run only one speaker) is a manual switch under a cover or something, and then the "+" of one channel and the "-" of the other channel is used to drive the single speaker (sub in most cases) ***READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY ON THIS ISSUE, DON'T JUST FOLLOW MY POST***
As far as blowing up a speaker, you can blow -up ANY speaker with ANY amp. Distortion is your enemy here. If you over-drive your amp with gain (volume), you will send a clipped (distorted) signal to speaker and cause damage over time (sometimes only a few seconds will destroy it, depending on power etc...)
Personally, I usually don't like ported boxes. The speaker will dictate the enclosure and wheather it needs to be ported, and what size the port and how long the port tube. Check with the seller of sub on this.
Finally, the last and most important rule of stereo systems.........YOU CANNOT HAVE TOO MUCH POWER, THERE IS NO SUCH THING.
If you listen as a modest level, the sound will be cleaner with more headroom (power) to spare. Buy as much power as you can afford.

The new kicker cvx's are 750rms. Is that amp bridgeable to output 720rms? and if so at what ohm load 1 or 2?
You'll want a Dual 4ohm speaker if its stable at 2ohms and if its stable at 1ohm or 4ohms at 720rms you'll need a Dual 2 ohm so that it can be wired up properly.

WOW, 1 ohm is almost a dead short. You will have trouble getting an amp to run there [&:] As for ohm loads in general, I am a little out of my league going further on this issue.
