Dynamat works ok, but the problem with it is that it's heavy, and it's expensive. Many of my fellow Vette friends have tried to lay it down in their older Vettes, with varying levels of success. I've been told that you can go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get this heat insulation that's something like $16 a roll that works almost as well as the Dynamat for sound. It's a foil covered thin insulation that's meant to go around ducting for heaters, and it'll lay down beneath carpeting and in the doors to help insulate.

There's also supposed to be some stuff called Lizard Skin, that's a spray on material; I've heard mixed reviews about it. It works great at insulating against heat and sound, but carpeting doesn't lay down easily over it, and you have to be REALLY careful not to get it into any bolt holes when you pull the seats out, or they're never going to bolt back in.
