Default 2001 CD Player into 2004?

I recently bought my girlfriend a 6 disc changer/radio (OEM Unit)for her 2004 Mustang GT (40th anniversary edition.)

I got it off of ebay. The seller said it was for a 2001-2004 Mustang. My girlfriend's dad tried to install it though, and he says it doesn't fit. The connectors are different or something. It looks identical, just the plugs are different, I guess. The radio has 2001 written on the top, so I guess because it's a different year it doesn't fit.

Is there any way to make it fit, like an adapter or something I can buy? I'm sure someone must have done this before...

there are a couple of different wiring possibilities in the mustang. Do you know if your car has the mach system in it(there are speakers behind the mirrors that have mach written on them)?
