a splitter will only run you about 40-50 bucks. You cut into a back speaker and run it off there. My buddy used one, not bad if you want to keep the stock look up front. But your better off switching the head unit.

a buddy of mine told me that 1 of my boys changed out his headunit for an alpine unit, and when he did he had to bypass the factory amp and the only speakers he could run were the front door speakers(all 4 of them) ... is there anything you can pick up to keep the factory amp and all the speakers? i love the way it sounds inside, nice crisp sound there

Go get a high/low converter for like 10 bucks. You have to splice in the rear speaker wires and run 1 ground to it. Mount it up on the rear rack. Then the RCA cables will run from the converter to the amp. I had this set up with my 02 GT with the mach 460. Its nice cause the stock head unit will still control the bass.

Yeah I went into my local stereo shop when Ibought myamp and they gave it to me for free. They usually go for around 10-15$. Just make sure you adjust the levels on it. My friend got one that had them set all the way off and he thought the converter was bad. Good luck though.
