I think the setupis verynice.

JL's are not my favorite brand of sub, and I would have a really hard time cutting up that enclosure to put in a bigger amp.
I can understand if JL is not your favorite. They have been my favorite for a long time, but to each his own. As far as the amp, it is mounted behind the backing you see. That is just a cutout that shows the top of the amp since it glows at night. You can cut the hole to any size you want. The top face if the amp fits flush with the rest of the wood and the vinyl is just cut out to make a hole. You could make it as big as you wanted it to be.

I personally like a lot of differnet subs.

I run an eclipse sw8122dvc in my daily driver. It is one of the best sq subs I have ever heard.

I have a pair of Resonent engineering RE8's in put in my wifes car and for $50 a piece at the time ($100 now), they areamazing little woofers.

If I was going to buy a sub right now I would get an elemental designs O series, maybe something my incriminator audio, or ascent audio. All are very nice woofers. I also wouldn't mind having anything byadire audio.

Jl's are good subs, but in my opinion not worth the price.

I cant understand how everyones reason for not liking JL is because of their price honestly what if all of their prices were cut in half. Then would they be on the top of your list?

My point is 75% of people that say they don't like JL is because they are known as the nationally knownbrand that is the best. Not because they are "high priced". People will dislike something because so many other people praise or live and die by it.

Like why middle easterners hate us, and commit terrorist attacks....

So stop being a bunch of towel heads people.

For the record im not a live and die by JL type either. I just think people dont give them enough credit for the decent product they truly do produce.

I found it online - used. They aren't available anymore. This one was like new. I jusmped on it. I used to be an installer, but I don't have time to work on an cars nowadays. Make more just doing my job than I can save by building my own box. Sound is ok from the box, enough for my DD Stang.

I don't dislike JL subs, but have you heardany of the equipment made by any of the aforementionedcompanies.

Resonent Engineering XXX series arenow roughly the same price as W7's and will blow them away.
Incriminator audio makes some of the best subs on the market, thier owner Lloyd has won many db drag competitions and his reputation is of sheer excellence.Elemental designs makes a great product that is factory sold in order to get a superior product for a very very low price.

Price does play its role, thats why people buy mustangs with V6's instead of V8's.

We are really on the same page. Fact, JL is grossly overpriced, but good equipment.

Heres my setup. Nothing special. 2 12" Kicker Comps in a ported box with 300 watt amp.

I like the stealth layout, PGH. But I have to ask, do you have another fuse to protect that power wire up at the battery connection? If you don't, would HIGHLY recommend moving it to the other end of power supply.

Jaz
EDIT: Right after I posted I figured it is so you can remove the sub box.
