Default Need help...i'm blowing fuses

I bought a Sony XS-L123P5B subwoofer today and I went to hook it up to my Sony XM-504Z amp and it melted the fuse. The fuse is a 60 amp. I don't know much about this stuff so some suggestions would help.

250 amp ftw

Try an 80 amp, if it's blowing, make sure you have your wiring correct.

yeah make sure your not wiring the ground to the remote or the other way around! that deff can cause you to blow a fuse!

Wire may be grounding out somewhere, any wiring that is. Or worst case scenario, your amps blown. Wouldn't be too much of a surprise if you know what I mean.

Also check to make sure the positive and negative wires aren't reversed.

NEVER try a bigger fuse. That will only make the problem worse if you have a problem.

How are you wiring a single voice coil, single sub into a 4 channel amp and what else is that amp driving?

I went from a 40 amp to a 250 and fixed my problem. Maybe your experience isn't always correct.

You installed a 250 amp fuse?!?!?!?!?!?! I am in agreement with ttocs. Something else is wrong. A fuse that large is for like 3500 watt system. Please do a little more research on the prob, you missed something.

Sometimes a bigger fuse is the answer, but I would try everything else first.

In my travels today, I started thinking about this a little. I never actually looked at the amp that was in use (doesn't change the wattage demand that would call for a 250 amp fuse) but have looked it up now. Looking at a 200 watt or so amp, so should need a 20 amp fuse max. Why the fuse doesn't blow now, is a mystery without more info, but can say for sure that 250 amp fuse is INCORRECT for this amount of power. Sorry to be a H.A. but electrical issues should not be messed with. Just b/c it is working, doesn't make it right.
