Question... what is a JL Audio 12" w3 like? as far as SQ and SPL go? i have a type R (ya im dumb and type R's sucks... i get it) but what do you "experts" consider the JL to be? more of an SPL or SQ subwoofer? or is it just a piece of siht like my Type R? ive heard 2 12" bumping and thought they sounded much better than my Type R (obviously... riiight? riiight) and am looking into getting them. i listen mostly to rap (another reason im an idiot im sure..) and what are similar or better options for the money? 250 a piece for the JL's.

In general I have found that JL products sound very nice. They can also be made to play quite loud with a sacrifice in sq. However, there are a few subs that would blow the JLW3 away at being a complete woofer in the $250 pricerange.

I've had mixed luck with the JL products I've owned. As said above, $250 is at the price point of plenty of high end subs. Go out and see what you like.

You can do alot for $250ish.
The W3V3's are nice, I like the looks of them, they sound a bit better than the Type-R, mainly at lower and mid volume ranges. Loudness is about the same, maybe the JL slightly more. If you listen to mostly rap, step-up to the 13.5" W3. Worth the extra money. Especially if your only getting 1 woofer.
