Jensen JPS368
It was the 5x7 speaker in the stock rear speaker locations for the 93 vert. I put an amp on it and it played well for 3 weeks. Now the right side speaker sounded like it broken with "paper sounding rattling", then the noise just completely went away. Then it came back for a second. I took the speaker out and touched the paper woofer. It came on when I touched it and off when I took my hand off. What's the deal with the 5x7. Is it toast and time to upgrade. If I have to upgrade then to what brand and how many watts? I like how these sound with some crisp treble and could hold SOME bass. I know they not designed for bass but when I put some on it, it took it well.

I would buy a nice set of front components, power them with an amp and ditch the rears completely.
Icould set you up for around $150. The comps will also help provide balance from the subs you will putting in the trunk.

Sorry, but I am a speaker nut and really believe the more the merrier. maybe the sound won't sound that good but so what. I am going to replace the Jensen with some more 5x7's but not sure what brand to pick up.
I'm just trying to keep you from wasteing money on crappy equipment. If you don't car what it sounds like why do you give a damn what brand to put in there. Just go get some chrome 8 ways with 6 tweeters and you'll be happy. It will sound like butt hole and you'll mave "more" speakers.
