Default door speaker problems

about 4 months ago i blew out my right door speaker. i finally couldnt stand the sound anymore so i bought a new pair last friday. i got the old speakers out put the new ones in but now they are clipping i think. they just dont work after i turn it up past a certain point. im not sure if i got the wiring right because i wasnt sure which wire was positive and which wire was negative but it worked both ways. also i couldnt really find a good way to connect the wire to the speaker but got some connecter that were decent. i really want to fix this problem but dont know how so any help would be greatly appreciated!

First, polarity really doesn't matter. You can get cancellation from multiple speakers, but it will not prevent the speakers from working.

Second, the best way to connect electrical components in soldering, but a good set of connectors will ofter suffice

Third, if they stop working after a certain volume, it seems to me like you might a voltage jump issue that is causing the speakers to short out. It would however be very strange to me if other speakers continue to run after the other sorted, but that depends on how you are amplifying the speakers.

well it isnt a set volume that they short out at, it is just somewhere in about half volume. and all the other speaker do work after the door speakers go out. it is a completely stock 460 system except for the speakers that arent working and also there will be a new HU soon, just have to figure out how to fix this problem before i put the HU in.

I own a classic so I'm not too familiar with the MACH 460.

What is the resistance of the stock mach speakers, and then the resistance of your new aftermarkets?

which speaker did you replace, the top tweet or the bottom?

The tweeter runs off of the deck power but the woofer is a strange impedence that will make it hard to slap an aftermarket in there. You may need to think about getting a different head unit or an amp to make those speakers work properly.

they are the bottom door speakers and i have no idea about the resistence on them. the guy at best buy said they would work just fine with my system but they obviously arent right now. so i may have to buy a new amp? i already have a new HU just need to install it.

If you bought the speakers at best buy and they told you they would be great, you probably got duped.

I would check to make sure all of the connections are good.

All it changes is which direction the speaker travels. It is a simple electomagnetic reaction.
