My personal Favoritr is the Alpine Blackbird. Easy to use good looking and ALPINE quality. check it out www.blackbirdnav.com . If you Like it I can get you one for 400.00 shipped. I have it in the Dock for my Alpine IVA-W200 but use it as a portable every day in my work truck

Look around and see what you want your system to have and not have then compare and choose the one you want.

I've got a Garmin Streetpilot 2610. It doesn't run on batteries, so you'll need something with its own power source like a car or a motorcycle, but I like it. It's been great for navigation and with the downloadable maps it's very accurate. I use it everytime I travel--motorcycle or car.

Just go to a boat shop or something and check out various units and see what you like and what works for your needs.

Used one of the JVC units, it was pretty nice, relatively cheap too for the features. Don't remember the model number though.
