caps arnt realy a waste of money depending on ur system if ur subs are making ur lights dim everytime it hits definetly use and caps dont put strain on ur system the take strain off with outa cap if ur system is too high ur putting alot of strain on ur alternator u can ruin it that way a single farad should be good enough to take the strain off

Caps are great if you want to get rid ofthat strobe effect on your headlights at night when youramps hit hard. Of course a secondbattery w/a higher capacity alternator would fix that too (and be a better one)but then those add a of weight to the car.
For every 1000 watts of power, you want 1farad of protection. That's equal to 1000µf (microfarads) to be on the safe side you'llwanteither a 3 farad cap or 3 one farad caps. The smaller the increment on the cap the faster they candischarge and recharge.
