Im in the same situation, so i dont know if i should start a new post or if it's ok to use this one, let me know. I have listened to just a few component sets vs coaxials, and i like the compenents better every time. Do thetweetershappen tofit in the original 460 spot on the pillars with a component setup? I was looking at using the Eclipse CD4000 for $250.00 but don't necessarily want to replace everything all at once so I can spend a bit more on each part as money allows.
On Ikesound.com you can get the CD5000 (few better things than the 4000) for $215 on closeout right now. Yes the triangular shaped pod the factory tweeter is in, it's very simple to do an aftermarket tweeter swap. Pop the grill of the pod and swap them out like any speakers.
