Default Help with Alpine CDA-9857

Based on recommendations from this site I installed an Alpine CDA-9857 in my 2006 Mustang last weekend. The installation went smoothly and everything works beautifully, except my door subwoofers (my original stereo was the Shaker 500). I did plug in the subwoofer jacks, and I attached the harness, but there were two purple wires that I did not connect since I had no idea where they went. Has anyone else run into this?

Thanks-

Danno

I don't know of anyone that would have suggested an Alpine head unit...

Anyway, if you have two purple wires. One solid purple the other with a black or grey stripe through it. Those are the + and - for your right rear channel generally. Im not familiar with Shaker systems at all so maybe someone else can shed some light here too. But from what I know thats what your purple wires connect to.

you need to turn the door subs on by connecting the remote turn on to the amp turn on.

what is wrong with alpine head units? well the older ones were better but still. i know eclipse units are very good, but you could do far worse than a Alpine 9857

There quality is good, the sound is good, but trying to use one and find and adjust you settings is rediculous. I was finding "new" features every week and never being able to adjust anything right because in every different menu the enter button is different each time. Or some other retarded setting I couldn't adjust.

actually i can completely agree with this. and every year they change their menu system around. i pretty much have mine down but you can really fine tune EVERY aspect of your system from the radio. which is good and bad. i installed a newer 9852 in my grandpa's ranger last week. well the menus are completely different from mine (less to adjust-basically bass and treble with a little more adjustment than that) so it took me a few minutes to figure it out. but after playing with it i got it and i was fine. but yea they definitely could simplify their menu settings. and i still don't understand what the point of "i-personalize" was. i mean come one REALLY? how the hell are we supposed to know how to adjust the equalizer and x-over points without sitting in the car. every car is different so how can they expect you to have to adjust the equalizer on a WEBSITE then burn the settings to a CD and DOWNLOAD them to the head unit. seems kinda ridiculous to me.
