Backseat subs
Hey i was wondering if anyone has put there backseats down and put in a sub so its facing into the car? like a show type thing, i about to atempt this and wanted to know if anyone had pics of them doing this and how it sounds...im thinkin about putting in a 10" APLINE TYPE R...how will this sound?what do you think? and no its not a rear seat delete. just putting the seats down and then putting them up in case im rolling around in a unfriednly neighborhood...and is 80 bucks good for a 10 inch alpline type r...my friends selling it.
I have my seats down most the time and my speakers facing in towards the cab cuz they rattle my trunk like theres no tommorrow if i turn them back. Its definately louder if you have the subs turned the other way but i kinda like looking at them hit and i still have plenty of bass so i left them like this.
I tried this a while ago. I turned my subs facing the seats and it looked really good but it sounded like S***. The subs do sound better facing towards the trunk, but thats something you'll have to sacrifice if you want to make it look good. And if its a used sub then 80 bucks is too much, if its new go for it, or try ebay.
I have a custom built system were I had the back seat removed and 2 JL12W6V2'S faceing the front and were the seat is there is a custom built amp rack with a Directed 1500D for the subs and 250 4 channel for my highs.. They sound awesome, but honestly if you want bass you would want them in the trunk with the seat still in place. This gives you less air space to move, which in turn will help the sound waves travel back in forth much quicker giveing you a higher SPL. If you want bass go with something different than an Alpine 10 in sub. First of all not a great deal for a used 10 Type R sub, but Alpine is not a sub for bass, go with some JL audio OR Rockford, Or even Memphis. These are the subs that sound good and last, when it comes to audio you truly get what you pay for.
an alpine type r 10 is fine my frined has one in his civic and its loud it all depends on the amp u need a good amp but as far as boxes and trunks is if its a sealed box u wnat youre seats up but if you have a ported box it doenst matter cuz the air displacement takes place in the box a sealed one need the tight space of the trunk to push the air around but i recommend to never get a used sub jus not worth it jus pay the extra money and get a new one with a warranty ull like it
You want the sub to face the trunk so the bass can bounce off something if you face them in through the seats the only thing the bass can bounce off of is the windsheild.(which is far away) do yourself a favor face it towards the trunk. and $80 for a type r used is way to much
