Recently obtained an '05 Mustang with a Shaker 500. Have the RDS activated and working.I have yet to find a CD that displays text. It is noted in the owner's manual that pressing the text button in the CD mode will display artist and song title. Is this limited to only recent CD's or is there some other "on" switch I need to activate?

As far as I know, it's mostly limited to more recent releases. Kinda like when you throw a CD in and media player opens it, some show the CD album cover, many dont. 95% of the time it's newer cd's that do. It's just that alot of companies didn't start coding the cd's with this information until now when theres is so many units that are displaying the text/information.

 

try a burned MP3 disc. my Alpine reads the text on burned CDs but not any store-bought CD i have seen so far. of course that is aftermarket vs. OEM, but you could try it.

 

Thats worth a shot too, but I would be betting theres a 20% chance this will work. But try it!
