Default No sound

I have a 94 GT 5.0 that has a stock amp that powers the speakers. It doesnt have the mach460 system I wish it did. My problem is that when I turn on my deck onit takes awhile to hear sound. The deck is on and working but not sound intil it warms up it seems like. Is my stock amp going out or could it be something else?

I had this happen with a Pioneer ampthat I had powering a sub. It only happened when it was cold outside, which made the amp cold. After driving with the music playing out of the regular speakers, I would start hearing the sub cut in and out and then finally it would stay on. I felt the amp and it was warming up. I just got rid of it and put a new one in it's place and all was well. The amp was pretty old. I don't know exactly what was wrong with it and I figured it would be easier to pick up a new one than take it to a shop to try and fix it.

One thing I don't get, you don't have the MACH460 but you have a "stock" amp? I didn't know they had amps other than the amp builtinto the receiver. At least my '95 didn't.

Electronics age taking its course would be my best guess. Nothing as far as being "broken" can just take a while to put out sound. Sorry im not much help, but I have never been across anything like this in my experience. Especially if it's just the deck and speakers since you dont have the Mach.

Time to buy a new cd player!

When I bought the car it came with a system in it but not the mach460. I think that they took the door tweeter out and just left the amp but the amp is located under the middle cousle. I think that am just gunna have to replace the amp because I already replaced the cd player and it still does it. Then again it might not have the mach460 amp, it could just be that they put one it... Thanks for the feed back

Its right behind the cd player, where your tranny hump is. You'll be able to tell if it's a factory amp. It sounds like it was a 460 system and the previous owner removed the tweeter pods.

check out page 2 of my sig. you can easily bypass the factory amp by wiring into the hnrs that I point to on that page.
