Default Amps

From the suggestions from my other thread in which I was getting ideas for a system in my car, I ordered the HU, component speakers and wiring. They should be here this weekend or early next week. I am still up in the air about the Sub and Amps. I really like the eD sub so I am going with that. I just can't decide on the amps. I'm a little uneasy about the Hifonics txi5006 and 6006 since PReal said the company wasn't as good as they were in the past. Price-wise, those amp choices are hard to pass up. After browsing the eD site, I am starting to really like the look of their amps. Are they worth the higher price? I really want this system to sound good. If I end up spending a little more than the $1k, then so be it. I think I'm a little over with shipping, etc. anyway. If I go with eD, which amp should I get for the 13Ov.2 dual 2ohm sub that was suggested and which amp should I get for the CDT components (http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3341)? Should I stick to the Hifonics amps? I am open to more suggestions before I order the rest of the stuff.

Thanks!

Assuming your running the first two channels to your front stage and bridging the rear for the 13Ov2. You only have one choice with eD with the nine.4. Some other brands I think you will be happy with in that price range are...

Zapco i-Force 4 Channel ($230)http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=594
Audison 4 channel may be out of your price range. ($450) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...LRx+4.300.html
eD nine.4 ($250) http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=46P.S.- BACKORDERED!

I mean really those are the main three I would look at if I wanted mid-level performance/price.

Would the eD nine.4 be able to supply enough power to the fronts and sub? If I'm looking at this amp correctly, it would be 65w RMS to each front and 150 to the sub...is that right? I would have to wire the sub in series to get the 150w @ 4ohms right?

What about getting 2 of the 2 channel amps? Would that be overkill? I was thinking, a nine.2 for the fronts (2x100w) and a nine.2x for the sub (1x600w @ 4ohms; wired in series). Or just 2 nine.2 amps.

I really like the look of the eD amps. Any other brands that aren't flashy that are comparable?

Thoughts?

The Ed subs are grossly underrated and that power is as 12.5 volts.

I think 2 2 channel amps would be best becuase it allows for the greatest flexibility in your setup. FYI, hifonics are still well built amps, but there are better choices like ED, you just pay twice as much.

The NINe.2 seems to be backordered. Is the NINe.2x a little much for the front components and single sub?

I have pretty close to the same comp set and I am running 300 watts rms per channel. I think you'll be fine. Just amke sure to set your gains very carefully.

It is really never a problem to have too much power as long asyou know what you are doing.

Your getting some great products. You used the package builder to get a discount right?

Well I called them and they gave me the discounted price. I didn't know about the package builder. I just tried it and it was the same price as what the sales guy quoted me. I got the black sub. I think it will go with the amps nicely

Over budget by $250 and still need to build a box...DOH!

It'll be worth it...
