Default Speaker Size?

Hey all,

My friend just recently got a 94 Mustang, and his rear speakers are blown. So when he gets the money we are thinking about replacing them and decided well if we are going to replace the backs might as well do the fronts too. So first im wondering what are the front speaker sizes. I know they are components so whats the size of the woofer and of the tweeter. Also the rear speakers are they 6x9's?

Thanks

5x7/6x8 all the way around, the tweeters are 1 1/2".

wait so are the actual speakers 5x7 or 6x8? im guessing im going to have to be making him mdf baffles.. or he's going to need them? also do the rears have factory amps? we were looking the other day and there are these 2 gray boxes in the turnk.. one on each side and they have wires running towards the speakers (lose them cuz they dip under some carpetted area).

yes......... it is a strang thing in car audio but you can get 5 x 7or 6 x 8. With this size you should not need baffles but you will need an aftermarket deck and a little bit of re-wiring(nothing hard). The rear speakers are a ROYAL pain as you will need to take the entire back end of the car out before the speakers come out........

You will need to make baffles for 6.5's for when preal comes on here shortly and says that oval speakers do not sound as good as round ones and recommends 6.5's. I have been installing for a long time and never heard a difference.

hmm well thanks for all the info! is there a guide somewhere that shows how to get the rear speakers out? I know my friend needs a headunit so he's going to pick one of those up first then imma work with him on that and after that hes going to get speakers and imma just those off his headunit. so either 5x7 or 6x8 will fit up front and in back?

95% of manufacturers write 5x7/6x8 on the box. To remove that back case you will have to remove all the screws which is like 6 and unplug the amps and harnesses.
