Is this the wrong wire? REM question...
Alright so I hooked my sub up last night, just one 12 inch until I get a custom box made for dual 12s. I'm driving a 96 GT with a Pioneer DEH-2000 (or something like that). I got everything hooked up and it sounds great. However, my amp continues to be powered even when the car is off. Yesterday my car's battery was dead. Tonight when I shut the car off, my sub or amp was giving off a lot of static.
I'm pretty sure this is a remote wire problem. The remote wire which came in my kit is blue, so I hooked it up to a blue wire behind the dash. I was going off of memory, so I figured color to color was best as it was the only wire causing trouble. Well, the blue to blue didn't work and I had no power, so I tried another wire, it didn't work. Finally I used a yellow wire which was connected from the headunit separate from most of the other wires.
Is it normal for an amp to be on all the time? I mean it is connected to the battery at all times. Could I have made a mistake in my wiring. I have power to the battery positive, ground wire connected, RCA cables connected. The only thing that took a couple tries before success was the remote wire. Is this static another problem? Thank you.

I can answer your remote wire turn on. You need to tell us what kind of car you have and we can probaly tell you the correct wire. But you are looking for a switched 12volt. Meaning it turns on and off as the ignition is turned on and off. Color isnt nesscesaraly the thing to go off of when wiring aftermarket.
As far as static it could be + and - switched. Or a bad ground. Possibly noise from the charging system. Did you run your power wire next to your RCA cables? Cause thats a bad thing.

Alright, yeah, I did notice several of my wires are kinda bunched up together, including my RCA and power wires. That's probably why there is static, as now I noticed the static while I'm driving. As far as my car, I'm driving a 1996 Mustang GT. Thanks for the help.
What wire do you have your remote attached to now? And do you have Mach 460? Or just the regular stereo? Im thinking you should be splicing into the yellow wire. You need to get a Voltmeter and put it on the yellow wire and turn your ignition on if you get 12ish volts turn it off, if you got nothing attach your REM to that wire. Also try this with the red wire as well.
I have the amp connected to the yellow wire and remote wire for the subs is splashed into that. I don't have the MACH460. I'll give your idea a shot tomorrow as it is getting late. The amp really isn't drawing a lot of power while the car is off, but obviously it is pulling some and probably more than other electronics are. And if the car were to sit for a couple days or more than I could see it being a problem at that point, as for right now I have a personal jumper pack so in case it does go dead I'm okay. But thanks for the help so far, we'll see what happens tomorrow.
you had it correct the first time but probably did not turn on the radio? The remote turn on has +12v on it when the radio is on and it is the blue/white. Depending on how you integrated into your mach system it may not sound very good though. Are the mids and highs dying before the sub is loud enough?
