Default Good set up?

So right now I have the Shaker 1000 system and was looking for a little more...So I went to Audio Express and this is the system the guy put together..

Two 10in Fosgate subs (P2's i think) in one of their premade boxes..
Panasonic dvd flip out head unit..
Kenwood 1000w amp..
4 Boston speakers..

The price he quoted was for complete install, warrenties, and re wiring the whole car for about $2000..

Sound like a good system for a good price? Any suggestions??

(I dont know car audio at all!)

Thanks!

thats more amp than you need for those subs. They are 400 watt each subs, i know cause I have them... I would try and get a little smaller amp and instal it yourself... Save big $$$

you can do much better for the price. i will never buy a system from a stereo shop again. the one i went to has had 20+ cars featured in Car Audio mag so they did good work. but it cost an arm and a leg. just buy your stuff off a site like woofersetc.com or onlinecarstereo.com and have the shop install it for install it yourself. btw if you are willing to spend that much you can get a pretty kick *** system.

If your budget is $2k. You can do way way better.

Hell, you could even blow that setup out of the water for under $1k.

What is your budget (hard), what type of music do you listen to, are you stuck on having a dvd player. Do you care more about loudness or quality in a stereo.

My budget is pretty much $2k or right around there. I listen to a lot of rock (Metallica, Rob Zombie etc) and also Rap. I would yes really like a dvd player also iPod capabilities. As far as loudness and quality goes, I want it to be louder than the shaker 1000 system yet still have good quality. So i guess a mix of both really.

Maybe somehting like this....

HU http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4953One Aux for ipod, one for DVD player. $300

DVD http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/1863(mount in the glovebox) $70

Monitor http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/5840$100

Subs https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...iew.shopscript(2 fi Q12's) $520 total

Sub Amp http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=44$365

Comps http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5091$300

Comp amps http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=45$220

Thats $1875, will blow away that trash the other store recommended, and leave you with the flexibility of removing the screen after you rearend someone. IT even leaves $125 to help pay the ticket for our accident.
