I installed a Pioneer cd players in my girlfriends 89 LX Hatch and it worked for like a month then the sound stopped going through the speakers. There is also no voltage at the speakers. I know its not the cd player as I have installed two now in this car. Anyone have any idea? I love listening to exhaust but I love music too...

did the LX have the amp below the radio? Most lx's did not but you never know. It sounds like you have power but no sound? If one of the speakers is shorted it will turn the amp off to protect it. To test it I would simply disconnect one speaker and see if the others came back on. If they didn't I would hook that speaker back up and disconnect a different one.

 

Well, it had an amp but it has been removed. And the idiot who owned it before us soldered all the speakers to the wire. I've already pulled ALL the seats and carpet. I'm just going to run my own speaker wire...

 

maybe it was the guys wiring that made the speakers not work...it has happened to me...I had power and everything but the speakers werent working...then I ripped up all my wires..and seen that 2 out of four were melted and cracked.

 

went to a few audio shops in town and they are all sayin that there is probably a short in the wires between the radio and the speakers somewhere...

 

I'd rip em all out and re do em...if theres only 4 speaks then its easy I just did it last week to my 91LX stock wire became brittle almost like string so I replaced it all
