Default 07 Rear speaker removal

Thanks in advance for any info. I have an '07 GT. All the info that I have seen (including Crutchfield install info) says to pop off the grills and remove the speah\kers. Unfortunately, on the '07, there aren't any grills. It appears that the rear deck cover must be removed to access the speakers. Has anyone done this? If so, Do you need to remove the side panels before removing the deck cover?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Merv

OK. Lost of hits but no advice. Here is what you need to do. Remove the side panels under the rear quarter window. Pull out the rear deck cover.

1. Don't panic.
2. Remove the MUSTANG kick plate from the door sill. (It just pulls up.)
3. Pull down the rear seat backs.
4. There are NO SCREWS securing the panels.
5. Locate and removethe 3 trim fasteners securing the side panel. One secures the panel through the carpet below the bottom seat cushion near the seat belt anchor point. Two are in the area that would be covered by the seat back.
6. Grasping the panel in the area of the quarter window, pull the panel straight out to release the clip. Don't be gentle or shy.
6. Working from the door frame, pull the panel towardsthe front of the car. Make sure that the panel clears the quarter window recess.Once you look at the are this will be obvious.
7. Remove the panel from the car.
8. Follow the same steps for the other side.
9. Remove 4 trim fasteners securing the rear deck cover. 2 in each corner on either side of the seat belt.
10. Slide the rear panel out.
11. You will need a torx bit and a low profile right angle bit holder to remove the rear speakers. There is very little clearance between the rear window and the speakers when trying to access the rear screws. I used something like this. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...seBVCookie=Yes

Reverse all steps to reinstall the panels. Again, no need to be gentle or shy.

Hope this helps.
