If you pay them to install it then they should hook everything up for you. Well except for the bypass anyway. Possible liability issues for them.

Check out www.avic411.com for info on the bypass procedures

Could be related...I installed an Alpine HU in my grandpa's Ranger and also have an Alpine HU in my car. I hooked up the orange/black wire in the harness in his truck and I know mine was hooked up. I believe (from what Crutchfield told me and my limited experience...my dad's F150 didn't do it either with his Pioneer HU) that Ford's just don't have a dimmer control in their factory HU harness. I know the stock radio dimmed, but for some reason none of the Fords with aftermarket HUs I have ever been in/worked on worked with that wire hooked up. Crutchfield told me that there isn't a constant 12v source for the dimmer in the radio harness. So, I'm thinking you could hook that orange/black wire up to the AC controls somehow because their lightsactually turn ON when the headlights are on. Maybe ttocs can help with this one...I want to know as well. It pisses me off to have to go into settings to dim my radio at night [:@]

I got mine installed by Circuit City today and I have the exact same problem. I told the guy to hook up the illumination wire (the orange wire) and he said he did, but when I turn my lights on nothing happens. Also when I go into the settings and hit the "nighttime" button, nothing happens. He said that its something in the settings and that I should be able to figure it out.

I doubt its something in the settings. I dont think he hooked up the wire right, but whatever. Maybe in a few days if I think its too bright during the night then I'll bring it back to him. But he said everything was hooked up right for it to work, that it was just something in the settings.

Anybody know?
