Default 1988 6 speaker - back corner speaker mods?

Hey, just wondering if anyone has modded the back speakers, but mainly the speaker guards (2 and a half total, when you include the first metal black grill, the spider like plastic supporters for the fabric, and then finally the fabric)

I put some 6" woofers from a volvo in there, and the sound is REALLY blocked by those 3 things.

I plan to put some skinnyer 6" speakers in there, but I want to make them visible, and thus more audible.

Let me know if you are interested in coming up with an idea or have seen something already

I would ditch all the speakers in the rear and spend that money on a high quality speaker set and an amp to powerthem with.

What speakers do you have in the front? That determines the amp you need.

It's all stock now, but I have these 2 sony xplod 6" 2 way's that are "rated power: 50W" and MAx. Input power: 160W"

And an MTX thunder 5000 10" sub that's 250RMS

I took the back speakers out because they are useless with the 3 layers blocking the sound from getting out.

Rear speakers serve little to no purpose in car audio. any money spent on rears should be spent on the front speakers.

I would

Buy a nice component set for the front for $100 and an amp for around $75 and you will have a nice sounding little stereo.

Or you could just buy an amp and use those sony speakers, but it will not sound near as good or be as loud.

Well all I want is those 2 sony xplods and 2 more in the back, then they do server several purposes, one being to get sound to any people sitting in the back, another to put the fader in the back to still hear the music but also be able to talk on the phone or to a passenger.

And I hope you mean that they won't sound as good as a compete system, but the xplods will sound WAY better then the stock 6" in the doors

I really only want those 2 sony xplods in the doors, perhaps 2 more in the back, and a sub or 2 - not really a needy person when it comes to car stereos, especially since im so used to stock.....

Yea, the fact your are new to car audio speaks to your love of rear speakers. I drive a mid-size SUV and only have front speakers, yet my rear passengers have told me how great it sounds in the back.

Most people buy car audio stuff and then get a little addicted so hopefully you will be upgrading soon.

Here is what I would run and the total is less then $200.....

Fronts: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5207(Amazing deal!!!)

Amp: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2213

For your speakers this amp would suffice: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2841
