Can you guys suggest some good Alarm brands? Not Bulldog.
I'm thinking of spending around $200-$250
The stock passive alarm on my Mustang just is'nt cutting it.

Code Alarm, for sure.

You will see a few posts below mine of people saying Directed (Sub-brands like Viper, Python, Clifford etc.)

I would stay away from them, the range is a joke. My Viper I still have, unfortunatly, when my stang got broke into in the fall got the window smashed in the trunk opened etc... Didn't make a peep. Im super glad I dropped $600 on their top of the line model. [:@]

lol sounds like my old car with it's Bulldog alarm.
One time in particular I was driving to my girlfriends house, and out of nowhere the alarm went off...while I was driving the P.O.S...a couple people thought I was a cop and pulled over.

I have installed both brands and had good luck with both. The alarm in my 94 gt is the first alarm that I ever installed when it was new in 94. It happens to be a code alarm and I have not had a problem with it or needed to mess with it since. Most of the place I worked at did DEI(directed electronics) and they are great stuff. If you had range problems on one of their models it probably had to do with the ant, and more importantly the install. A good alarm put in by a bad installer can cause alot more then just a security problem. Shops like best buy and CC bonus their installers by how fast they do the job. One job you do not want to rush is an alarm install so stay away from there. Go to the shop and ask how they make their connections. soldering is the best, crimp connections are acceptable, T-taps a NO NO!!!!! Ask if they take the time to hid the brain and siren or if they just slap it up under the dash/hood?

I am interested in this topic as well. Which car alarm provides the greatest security to autotheft? Have they improved the tracking ability or remote disabling ability (once recognized as missing/stolen) on the latest systems in the US? I know the UK has a few great ones like the Cobra 2112 but the service is only available in Europe. Any advice would be appreciated!

Had CC install the top of the line model in my Ranger (Not DEI, cant recall the brand). It had the keyfob that showed what sensor went off, I had windows roll down, remote start, etc. Cost like $700. Well I am driving along during the heaviest of rain storms and sure as hell it starts to malfunction and the windows keep rolling down, got them up half way, then same thing over and over and over again. Needless to say, went back and had them remove it and got all my money back and had to live with a musty smell on my nice cloth seats and carpet. [:@]

The Code Alarm system. CA-680 I believe. Awesome. In another thread I posted the info about adding the call-in feature, which it's an automated phone number you can call and tell you car to do anything if your remote is out of range. I am pretty sure they can use that part to track where your vehicle is too.
