Default Help me pick an elemental designs speaker package

I recently contacted a local installer and they put together a system for my 2007 Mustang that's all JL Audio equipment for approximately $3600, which includes all hardware and labor. This is a bit pricey for me and heard elemental designs was good, but I'm not sure what I need to buy exactly.

The quote they gave me was for JL 5x7s with seperate tweeters up front, 5x7's rear, 2 10W3 subs with enclosure and a 300/4 and 500/1 amp. I would like something comparable to this sound. I am more concerned with sound quality rather than huge bass. I listen to a lot of alternative and hard rock, so I don't need a sub like a 10W7. So basically i'm not sure which component speakers to order and which subs to order as well as the amps to replace my shaker 500. I already have a Clarion MAX675VD head unit with navigation brain.

Also if this helps, i'd like to keep the cost of these components at around $1500 or so or less if the sound is comparable to the JL Audio equipment. I'm willing to spend a bit more, but i'd like to get my total cost down including installation and labor to around $2500 total for the speakers, and amps.

You can get equal for sure, better probably overall performance with equipment from CDT and eD. Do you need to figure a deck in this budget as well?

And when I say you'll get equal or better performance I also mean by spending closer to $2500-2700 tops.

I already purchased a Clarion MAX675VD head unit with the NAX965VD (I think that's the model) Navigation, with sirius satellite and ipod connector. So my HU is taken care of.

Basically i'd like to spend no more than $1500 for new speakers/amps... and then figure maybe $1000 for installation/wiring or whatever.

woofersetc.com- CDT ES-610 components
edesignaudio.com- 2-11Ov.2 woofers
edesignaudio.com- nine.1 amp woofers
edesignaudio.com- nine.2 amplifier components

package it out and you get 15% off your entire purchase.

Look into picking up some sound deadener from eD as well. You can get wiring at either woofersetc or eD. Have a trusted shop in your area install it.

Your at $900ish depending on how much sound deadening you get with all that stuff from eD. The component speakers are $300. So your well under budget and those 11Ov.2's will crank. You could also consider getting a better 3-way front stage if you still want to spend more and get a little more from your front stage, but that ES610 alone set is amazing!

If I wanted a better 3 way front stage... what would you recommend then? Also, will all these speakers fit in my 2007 GT ok? Will I need to have any custom MDF things made to fit the front components or should they just be able to throw them in? Also, do I just leave my back speakers stock?

DLS (eD) 3-way (budget pending) 3-way same with CDT from woofersetc.com, go to 3-way systems and the one that fits your budget. 3-way is not necessary but if I had the money I would defiantly do it.

Yes speakers will fit fine if the installer is a real installer. A real installer can fit a 15" in a 4" opening. (obsurd but true).

With the 05+ it should be pretty standard even with the 3-way systems. Aside from a baffle which no shop should charge anything much for.

No you remove your back speakers and run a solid front stage and a woofer configuration. Any decent installer will agree with you, or simply provide you with absolutly no facts that support any rear stage is necessary let alone desired. Unless they are after you for money. Then you will say, "Ok see you later" and they will flip their story 180 degrees....

I think I want to do a 3 way up front. Will the Nine.4 amp work for this up front sound stage or will I need a 2 channel or something else? And for running 2 subs in the rear, you would recommend a mono or 1 channel amp still? Lastly, between CDT and eD for a 3 way setup... which do you think is better quality and sound? Lets say I'm willing to spend $700 or so for my front speakers... which model/s would you pick?

How about this one?

Those CDT's... Insane. Yes they are an excellent choice.

You dont need a 4 channel, just a bigger 2 channel. If you decide to go with the 3-way set-up go with the nine.2x instead of the nine.2. Little extra power

Yes the nine.1 will power the 2 woofers fine. It's a 900 watt rated amp, it's closer to a solid 1000 rms at 2 ohm.

Well eD doesn't offer a 3-way system yet, thats why they carry DLS. Honestly you wont be dis-appointed with either. I myself think you get a little more from CDT for the price your paying.
