Default Which sub now?(Post if you know me on MF.com).

Well I'm getting my speakers in next Wednesday. Now I really need to decide which sub to go with. I was pretty much set on the eD 13Ov.2. Just entertaining other options. I know I made a thread about this a while back, but that was a little unrealistic. I want it to be in the $200-300 range and I'm keeping my amps for now (last thing to be re-done since they are the most expensive component) and it has to handle around 800-1000w RMS. I'm open to any brand. I listen to pretty much EVERYthing. I've recently found my current set-up's "best" genre...electronic/techno. I gotta say other than rap which doesn't really require much to sound "good", the electronic stuff sounds pretty damn decent on the Type-Rs (speakers AND subs). The imaging is also best on this kind of music. With any kind of rock the imaging is all off and I can "hear" the sound biases from left to right. But with the electronic the sound seems to be coming right out of the middle of my head (like wearing headphones). So from now until Wednesday, I'll be listening to all techno to squeeze every last dime out of those OVERpriced mediocre Type-Rs. I'm selling them for $200 so not bad, considering I got my ES-620s for $350.

Back to my sub though, I want to go with just a single sub this time. And some help designing a box that fits behind the shock tower. I want to be able to use a Kenny Brown shock tower brace, and my current box goes about 3-4" past the shock tower. Right now I have my two amps mounted to the back of the box. I'm thinking the new box can mount an amp on either side of the sub (mounted in the middle of the two) and then I would have room to push the box all the way back up against the rear seats. I'm thinking that would give me enough room for the brace. IDK for sure though, and I know it all depends on my final choice and the required air space. I know the box will be sealed for SURE though. Not a big fan of the ported box sound. Also, if someone with an SN-95 Coupe could go out and take measurements for me from the back of the seats (top and bottom since they are slanted) to the shock tower that would be great. It would be a little hard since my box is bolted/flushed in with trim pieces, that and I work every day and don't have a usable garage to work on the car at night in. Whatever I choose, I'm most likely going to SecondSkin the entire trunk, then line the whole trunk with eD black carpet. If I get the eD sub, I think I might as well just get the eDead though and save on shipping charges since they could ship the sub, carpet and eDead all in the same box. We'll see though. Let's hear your thoughts guys......

Right now I'm running my 6.5 Type R components. My amp is still a 4ch right now. I'm removing the rear speakers and bridging the amp to send 150x2 to the new CDT ES's. So at least for a couple months I'll have my MRV-F345 bridged to 150x2 powering the ES-620s and my MRD-M1001 powering my two 10" Type-R subs. Yea the 13av is just too much for me at this point. That and my current amp would under power it. Are you thinking about the 13ov.2s for your stang? Little much as well, no? . SQ is more important to me than SPL, although I don't really want to lose any output compared to my current set-up. I just want it to sound better and take up less space haha.

You wont go down in SPL at all. Even if you went with a pair of 13K's. Yeah a pair of them for the stang. When I get my new one of course, thinkin about selling mine here soooon. Thinking about saying F-it and taking it to a dealer and trading it on a 99-00 GT. Just have to put all my interior panels back in.

Also im considering a number of SQ10's... Liike 6 maybe? Do a nice thin wall on each side of my trunk, all the way around, 2 Left, 2 Back, 2 Right. Would basically take up no space and be loud as hell. YOu could even have them firing towards the outsides of each side so it's bascially a completly stealth install just looks like you squared off your trunk. Or even a false floor with 6 of them in it.

Lots of ideas with them SQ10's!

Haha 6 SQ10s. Hmmmmm.....Yea I'm looking at one SINGLE 13OV though, not a pair. You have a Cobra now right? What is up with your interior panels?

Yea I remember. I'm thinking about the 13" version. Any more recommendations though? In that price/power handling range? I was thinking maybe some kind of ID sub. I'm going to eventually go with some Zapco or Tru Tech amps to replace the Alpines, but that is later down the road. What size box did you guys build for the 11OV? I know you were doing a fiberglass one correct?

Yeah the Cobra. Had to remove the rear part to get my enclosure in and out, and the door panels were removed because the place that installed a window for me messed something up on my drivers side so I was swapping stuff from each side so, no rear interior, no door panels right now.

And the reason I considered doing the 6 SQ10's over a pair of Ov's was just to be different and show off a stealth install with some decent SPL still. I dunno im never sure until I decide to just buy it.

Ohh and an ID sub... Never a bad choice. Woofersetc.com has them. I'd do the MAX12 though for sure if you go with ID.

eD 13Ov.2
ID MAX12
Fi BTL12
Treo SSX 12

Some to possibly consider, I would lean more towards whats above though.
Boston G5
Orion H2
PG Ti12D Elite
RE SE 12
Memphis Mojo 12

It is the same woofer, just a difference diameter. The12 will only move more air the 10 and it was very very nice.

P...

I got into the BTL from Fi when I was looking on their website. Nice driver, very nice driver.

The BL or the Q seem more up my alley though as far as purchasing anything. You owned anything from Fi yet? What have you listened to and what were you observations and impressions?
