Speaker noise.
First of all, I have a bad Rockford Fosgate P400.4. The two front channels are bad, they make cracking noises on the speakers, waiting to hear from RF if I can send it in via warranty.
My fronts however, are wired to the rears and for some POS Kenwood 7.5's the amp makes them pound good. However, there is a lot of static noise in the fronts, and a whining noise. Everyone has told me its the result of a bad ground or a lose wire hitting the car. The car has been rewired (twice) and the ground is good. Could a blown speaker make this whinning noise as well? It goes up when I rev and so on. It sounds like a lose wire, but there is none to be found. Need help here, this has been bothering me for 2 years. Thanks guys!

TTocs is trying to help me with this. Is there a chassis ground wire going to the deck? If so I might wanna check that out. Im assuming I just need new component system an some new rears.
Anyone seen 6x9 installed into a 97 convertible? I dont like 6.5's, they really cant pound, my 7.5's in the front do though pretty well.
Not going for sound imaging, im no competitor, just LOUD, with that bass kick.

The whining is usually caused by a bad ground, and although you have checked the grounds for your aftermarket systema number of times, make sure you also check the factory grounds too. Make sure your battery, alternator, and stereo harness wires are not shoddy and that terminals are not corroded or making week connections. Clean the battery terminals to ensure the best connection, andtrim your power wires if necessary to make a fresh connection. You could reinforce your chasis ground by grounding your battery to the chassis with a short wire. Also make sure your ground wires are not too long. Your amp should be grounded to the nearest point possible.
The main thing to know is.. the whining follows the reving of the engine because your power grid originates from your alternator, which accelerates according to engine revs. The trick now is to find where the "leak" is. Where in the system is the ground loop week. Start from the end output (speakers/amps) to the root (alternator via battery) Hope some of it helps, I know it can be anoying as heck to live with the constant whining.
PS I don't know about most amps, but I once had a US Amps that recomended I ground my RCA's by sodering a wire to the RCA's going into the amp and then grounding it to the same ground as the amp. I never tried it though as I did not have a whine in my system.

Ok. There are 2 grounds it looks like comming from my negative on the battery to the chassis. But they are bolted down on top of the paint. Should I try an remove the paint around those 2 grounds?
Will making a fresh ground comming off the negative remove the problem?
