Default Computer to car interface??

Has anybody heard of any programs that will interface your computer to your car through the diagnostics ports?? If not, this would be a great market for any software engineers out there. This would allow you to view the status of your car, such as temp, fluid levels, remind you of oil changes, any other servicing that needs to be done, boost...and so forth. This would replace the annoying [:@] "Check engine light" with an actual description of the problem. Any opinions??

Found this in a Summit Racing catalogue. Not a computer interface, but close. http://www.nology.com/pdadyno.html
You can pick up a Palm IIIe off ebay for about $10, so that's not a huge deal. Im planning on getting it when the funds come available (if ever).

That's actually pretty cool. I like that...it's something like I was talking about. Thanks!
