Default My next project: Tackle the audio system!

My Mach460 is OK quality, but it gets fuzzy when I turn the bass up. I hate it...and it just rattles everything.

I'm looking into a new project for my car. Heres what I had in mind...

-Do a rear Seat-Delete
-Mount a box in the trunk, and custom fabricate holes in the seat-delete to expose the subs through the seat delete kit.
-Mount my amp under the seat delete where the cushion is supposed to be.
-Install some new tweeters
-Add some blue LED's to the amp and subs.
-Throw out my old Pioneer stereo head, and install a flip out DVD screen in the stereo head unit.

How does that sound? I might not do the LED's...a little ricey...but I like the exposed subs through the seat delete. Anybody do something like that before? How hard would it be to do?

And I was wondering if these subs would fit in my trunk, and if they are a good brand/quality? I e-mailed the guy, and he said they used to be in his 1990 5.0 fox body.

Thanks guys!

Oh man..I love it when people come into the AV section after being on the site a LONG time .

We can get you hooked up. Just tell us what your total budget is and what kind of music you listen to and we'll go from there. Sounds like you and your dad are going to be doing the install, so you can spend more on better quality stuff. You don't really need to do a rear seat delete, but if you want to it won't hurt anything. And you can't just add tweeters. Just get a new set of components and throw out everything from the 460. Take out the rear speakers. They don't do anything for you.

Basically you'll be looking at a set-up consisting of:
New component speakers
1 or 2 subs
2ch amp for the speakers
1ch mono sub amp

Budget and music will determine what kind.

Cut holes for the subs through the rear seat delete?

You do realize they need a box, right?

What's your budget?

What type of music do you listen too?

Can you build your own box?

SPL or SQ?

Just so you know, sound is 85% of the box design and build, and 15% personal taste.

Ok I guess there was more to this stuff than I thought.

I have a 2 ch amp already...it's a Clarion (piece of ****,I know). It works though, and I don't want to spend alot of money buying anothor one.

I listen to ALOT of classic rock and techno, somehardcore, and then some hip/hop. My speakers in the back suck *****...they get all static-like at any loud volume.

I have a budget of around 200-300 bucks.I may even make my own seat delete with wood and carpet.

Watcha think?

What are the power ratings of that amp? Better yet, just post the model number and I'll look it up. Either way, for that much, you're not going to get a whole system. 200-300 bucks for everything including the new DVD head unit? Dude, you need to lay off that "grass." You're looking at at least $1000 to include all the stuff you want to do including the DVD unit.

Don't diss the clarion amp. I have an old clarion back in the day I wish I never got rid of. At one point I beleive they were actually made by Zapco, a very hihg end car audio company.

For $300 you won't even be able to get a screen, let alone an audio system with it.

For $300 I would do this....
Front Speakers - http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5207$100 and use your clarion for the speakers.
Sub - http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31(Dual 4 ohm version) $100
Amp - http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2840$70

That will total around $300 with shipping. You can buy wiring at wal mart for like $30 and build a box for $20.

You will be a little over budget but it will sound great for the money!

I'm thinking he meant $3000....This guy is pretty well off for a 16/17 year-old.

Nope I meant $300.00 exactly!

OK well, I decided to ditch the in-dash screen for now, but just get2 12"Subs in the back in a box. I'm keeping the front Infinity speakers, cuz they work pretty good for now. Can I run my clarion with a sub box in the back without another amp? I'll try to find the amp's wattage if that would help.

I would really consider the set-up that Preal suggested. The eD sub will give you a really good amount of bass and still have very good SQ. The CDT speakers will be better than the Infinitys as well.
