Installing HID kit, bulb flickers.
I just got my 8000K HID kit today that i ordered from stangmods.com. They looked cool so i bought them. Anyways, i was installing them tonight and when i went to pull the ****, the passenger side lit up fine but the drivers side flickered and tickedreal loud for like 3 seconds then just went out. I turned them off and went to go check all the wiring and everything seemed to be okay. I went back and tried pulling the **** again....same thing happened. Do you think it was somethin i coulda screwed up? I did everything according to the directions, and yes i know not to touch the bulb with your bare hands so that couldnt be the problem. Think it could just be a faulty kit? Has anyone ever had a problem like this before when installing HID's?
Check everything again, try wiggling the wires a bit to see if maybe you are not contacting the metal well. Mine did that the 2nd time I turned them on and then never again. Good Luck
what he said. Start at your connections at the bulbs. Wiggle them back and forth and see if anything happens. After that go to the connections at the ballast and do the same. If still nothing then try to give the ballast a "Technical tap". This starts with light tapping of your fingers, next to your knuckles, next a light knock, and continue to increase the amount of pressure until you are ready to pull out your 16 lb sledge. That fixes everything.....
k, well tonight i thought i woulda been able to fix my problem by switching the ballasts....seemed simple anough. So i switch them and get everything all plugged in, then when i went to go pull the know. I noticed that my drivers side bulb was not only flickering now but had a lot of smoke coming out of it. It smelled like an electrical fire which means either the bulb is bad or i was sold a faulty wiring system. What all do you think i should do now?
These kits will make a light humming or grinding noise when they are shorting out.. Then after a while the ballast will overheat and shut off. Then it will do the same over and over again untill you fix the short or blow your ballast. I wouldent mess with the bulb usually those dont go bad fast but it does sound like you have a short somewhere.
If you spliced the wires to lengthin them for some reasion and used crimp connectors make sure that your crimps that have bare metal exposed arent touching bare metal, water, or any other wires and seal them up with electrical tape.
Double check all of your wires on that one ballast. It should be a red and a blue wire running to the bulb one of them has to be shorting.
(I had this same problem on my mustang and is was a install mistake made by me these ballasts are pretty tough.)

Seems a LOT of people have had problems with the Stangmods kit. Not to knock our sponsors, but I bought mine from an ebay seller and they are MUCH better quality....
