System Idea
A friend of mine recently got a car and he wants to put a system in it. He has an opportunity to possibly get a pair of used "12s and this got me thinking. Im not a fan of how much space I lose with the 2 12" alpine Es that came in my car, and I think there is a 150 1 channel driving them, so there is thumps pretty good but nothing over the top. Anyways I was thinking if he would buy them from me and my amp, I could probably put in as good if not better solution that takes up far less space. Here is what I was thinking.
Ive read that people like Elemental Design, so I was thinking one of their SQ10s for their low profile.
Amp wise I was thinking a 4 channel Profile HA1040 bridging 2 for the sub and using the other ones to drive a set of components.
For Components I was thinking the CDT KA-61. Realizing they are entry level but being sure they are better than stock.
So here is my question(s): Will one 10 inch sub with that amp give me some good thump in the back of my mustang or should I get two?
Is that amp good enough for what I want to do, or am I under power?
I am trying to keep a lower budget. Im hoping $400 max if thats doable, even less is prefered. So give me suggestions, or what you think of my idea, criticism is welcome, but be constructive
thanks in advance
ps id leave the rears powered by the deck.

That is a great starting point.
I would not use the KA CDT's. I have heard nothing positive regarding that line of comps. Get the S-60A's and you will be much more satisfied.
The Sq10 is a great little woofer, but if you prefer to go with a single woofer, I would step up to a 13Kv2.

First off, thank you for reading around before asking any questions. It's so nice to have someone in the door and have a clue of whats going on instead of trying to guide a 2 year with sonar.
Secondly, the CL60A's for the price are great, like P said, step up to those CDT is great but their entry level lacks slightly. Your woofers, you have the right idea but unless you do 2 SQ10's you wont get the volume your looking for so I would also suggest a single 13Kv2, since you are on a budget. Your amp again, if your on a budget, great choice. Try getting a mono or a bridgable 2 channel for the woofer and a decent 2 channel for the front stage. Or better yet, get a solid 4 channel and bridge the rear for your woofer. I have a 4-channel Total (TMA) amp and it puts out for being a $100 amp. I dont think many of their like 4 online dealers sell 4 channels though so you may have to stick with Profile. Look for a 4 channel if you are on a budget in my opinion.

I have two 10 inch infinitys in my trunk( 95 gt) Depends on what ,kkind of music you listen to If your into rap and hiphop you want a larger sub to handle the range of acoustics. If you listen to rock go with 10 or8 inch subs they Are cleaner becau you can control more of what signal is being sent to the subwoofer

Using an 8" or 10" woofer will not give you control of any signal. Your headunit or processors will. It also has nothing to do with how clean the signal is being sent to the woofer. Your amplifier does.
Be sure that what you present to people on here is a fact, not something that you believe in your mind that cannot be supported with any fact.
Would you please tell me why a woofer will sound cleaner because it is a smaller size?
I havent as much recently but I have spent a lot of time reading around on these forums in the past year or so since I bought my 02 Coupe, There is a lot on here that is great information though at times it takes some sifting to find what you are after.
Thanks for your replys, I listen to a pretty wide range of music that includes Rap, rock, alternative/punk etc. and some heavy so decent all around quality but some good thump as well and from what Ive read, and researched in the past, Front stage and a decent sub should cover me fine with even stocks for rear fill for now. I run an Alpine CDA-9847 which is a head unit that I have no complaints about. I really dont have any complaints about the V12 amp and Type 12s either but something more space efficient Is something I am interested in doing.
Now Im not against 2 subs, so two of the flats would work, but I would need more power from an amp right? And with the updates suggested, The profile 4 channel amp should still give me enough juice if I go single sub and the suggested components?
I was looking at some more recent posts, I like what that guy did with those 4 8s, it got me thinking as well. I hate when i start thinking, it costs me money
Oh and Which direction would you suggest mounting it? THe local audio guys seem back (towards trunk) is best but I dont want whats in my trunk to beat it up, So I was thinking facing the seat, with some spacing obviously. I have also thought about down, with the subs I have and am not opposed to that either however I would think down would take up more trunk space, as the space abouve the sub box would be pretty useless. So still thinking out loud, Firing towards the seats, probably passenger side, have the amp on the drivers side (existing wiring is already there, and when you fold down the seats you will be able to see both. Comments on that?

You usually get the best sound and response with the woofers firing to the rear (opposite the way you are thinking to have them firing towards the seats). Speaker grilles are your friends
. However, I really like ttocs' set-up and you could do that as well. I would really go with two of the SQ10s though. You could do the set-up that ttocs has and mount the amp in the center and a woofer on each side of it. Make sure that amp can be mounted inverted first though, or just mount it on the other side so it is inside the cabin instead of the trunk.

Dont fire them towards the seat. And again the SQ10 is a great idea but your talking $140 for 2 of those, and you'll get just as much output probably more with a single 13Kv2.
You could do something similiar to ttocs, finding the drivers you want is going to be the only difference he used some 8" he had laying around. eD makes some great litle 6" and 8". You could even do 4-6". Theres alot of options, figure out how much space you want this all to take up, how loud you want it to be, and how good you want it to sound.

Seight, what do you think about using ttocs set-up as a guideline and mounting one 13Kv2 in the center, IB, then an amp on each side. That would be a nice, space-saving system. I always wonder how much bass you give up with the IB mounting though...
