Default Setup under way!

Hey gang, i've been tossing setups around and have finally picking up pieces for it. This is what i have so far-
Elemental Design NINe.4 (for front components)
Sony Mono Amp (from old setup, hopefully replaced) 900W RMS at 2 ohm
Dual 10" sealed custom box

These are the items i am looking to pick up to complete.Offer any alternatives that you can! I love being opened up to new ideas.
MB Quart QSD 216 6.5" Components
2 Elemental Designs 11Ov.2 2 ohm subwoofers
Clarion MAX675VD Head unit.

By dual I hope you mean 2 woofer enclosure and not the brand.

Old MB I would say yes, unless it's the top of the line stuff from their current product I would stay away from it, they were recently bought by RF about 3-4 years ago and their quality on the low and mid price equipment is showing that dramatically.

You will want something far better for those 11O's, Sony is some of the worst equipment on the market in my opinion, and im sure PReal, Hisss, ttocs would tell you the exact same. If you had to, buy a cheap Profile amp, woofersetc.com has them low priced and they are a great budget reliable amp, they put out their rated power.

Clarion I have never been a fan of, they are really good units though. They would be my 3rd or 4th pick. I would go Eclipse then Pioneer then between JVC and Clarion. Eclipse has been putting out some excellent stuff the past few years, alot of their last year model stuff is on sale right now too, the CD5000 is an incredible unit for $300, again on woofersetc.com.

I also hope you had that "custom" box built to the spec of the 11Ov's. I've never been a big fan of MBQs. Mid bass was good, but I always thought the tweeters were harsh for me. But then again, I have found almost EVERY tweeter I have ever listened to to be at least a LITTLE to harsh for me. Do that is personal preference. But the MBQs, at least to me, were more harsh than anything else I had heard at the time. I got the CDT ES-620s from woofersetc and have been pretty happy with them. I had the tweeters set to -3db on the Xover at first, but then they were too soft. Set them at 0 and just a hair too harsh. Midbass is AWESOME though. I'm just waiting on my new amps and sub to worry about fine tuning at this point though. I'd replace the Sony amp with a NINe.1. As Seight said, Sony is CRAP.

Well, the box is set at 1 cu ft, and the eD website said .5 cu ft per sub.

I was looking at CDT equipment before but saw the MB equipment. I would like to spend around $200 on the components. What other models could I look at for components? How about some Boston SL60's? Is the eD 6000s system good? For $135 that's pretty cheap and i want eD subs too so i could get the package deal.

I was also considering the JVC AVX800 head unit. I would like one of the double din in dash monitor units, and would like to spend around $600 on it.

I had bought the amp on the cheap ($100 new) to hold me over on my first install. I'm going to sell it though and pick up somehting else. I saw that the model amp i have they sell for $300 at the store! That's ridiculous!

The Edi 6000 doesn't look too bad but I would much rather have a higher end unit from CDT. For $200...

Best $200 you'll ever spend

SL60's are great but, I wouldn't jump on them unless you found them for a great price. You can do better for the money when those are at close to retail pricing. For $225 those CDT's at $200 are much better.

I would love to get a set of Pro60's though, just not spending $325 on a set when I can get some ES610 CDT's for $300

awesome! Thanks guys. Now, a question about my box. Is there more to it than having correct volume? I'm not looking for amazing audiphile sound but i would like for it to be quality and last.

If it's sealed your calculations dont have to be dead nuts on like it does with a ported enclosure.

With sealed (or ported in my opinion) make sure you do some bracing. Use a sealant around the corner of each piece, some caulk and a caulk gun will work fine. Anything silicone based works well.

Whats the point of a roll cage or sub-frame connectors?

You can run it pretty much anywhere you want.

Heres some tips to bracing properly http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=166
