Default Setting gains

How do you properly do this? I guess i really don't know anything about setting these with what i have been reading the last few days. I always thought you just matched the wattages for RMS. Can you fill me in fellas or lead me to where i can read it?

Go to eD's website and go to their video tutorials. Go to the one about setting gains, you can also find the link to this in my FAQ sticky, theres tons more info in that sticky as well, I would read through all of it just to see what else you can pick up.

I watched the video and it shows how to get certain wattage out but how do you know how much wattage something can handle? P said he was running 300 watts rms to speakers that it said could only handle 140 rms. i didn't read this in the FAQ or see it in the video. Maybe i'm dumb.

Are you careful and considerate enough to send double the RMS to your speakers? What kind of amp and what kind of speakers are we talking here, and be honest how responsible can you be with the volume ****? What kind of deck are you using, because someone that doesn't have the bass on the eq cranked, has the loud feature on, has no crossover or HPF/LPF's is completly different than someone that does.

We are talking a NINe.4 bridged to CDT E61FG and NINe.1 to two 11Ov.2's. It will be a Clarion MAX675VD head unit. What does it mean to be careful and considerate? to not have it blasting all the time, only on a limited basis?

Knowing your systems limits mainly.

The RMS on those is 140 watts. the NINe.4's RMS is at about 150, honestly the NINe.4 could easily put out anywhere between 150-175, it may even be doing closer to 200. I would set it at 150-160 (15-16 volts). Anymore than that and you are going to be running the amp at it's full potential along with the speakers, I wouldn't do more than that until you feel comfortable with everything.
